Bada Ganesh Ka Mandir
This temple is situated above the tank near the Mahakaleshwar temple and enshrines a huge artistic sculpture of Ganesha, the son of Shiva. An idol of this size and beauty is rarely to be found. The middle of the temple is adorned by an idol of Pancha-Mukhi, the five-faced, Hanumana. There is also a provision for learning Sanskrit and Astrology in the temple.
History of Bada Ganesh Ka Mandir
The city of Ujjain is often called the city of the temple as it is home to many temples, and religious sites. Sri Bade Ganesh Ji Ka Mandir is one of the most popular religious places in Ujjain.
The most iconic thing about the temple is the massive artistic sculpture of Ganesha - the Lord of wisdom and prosperity - that adorns its premises. It is said that this Ganesh idol was established by Maharishi Guru Maharaj Siddhant Vagesh Pt. Narayan Ji Vyas.
Architecture of Bada Ganesh Ka Mandir
The Ganesh idol at the Bade Ganesh Ji ka Mandir is about 18 feet high and 10 feet wide and the trunk of Lord Ganesh in this statue is clockwise. There are a trident and swastika on the head of the statue. A Ladoo is pressed into the trunk rotating to the right.
Lord Ganesh has huge ears and a garland around the neck. There is also a beautiful statue of Panchmukhi Hanuman in the center of the temple and is said that this idol was established even before the establishment of Bade Ganesh.
