Satopanth Peak, Uttarakhand
Satopanth, which means 'True Path' in the local dialect, is the second-highest mountain of the Gangotri group of peaks in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. A formidable undertaking, this mountain has an elevation of 7075m. Reckoned to be a compelling proposition even for the veteran mountain junkies as the trek becomes difficult in its final stages and converts into peak climbing adventure. The Mt. Satopanth expedition is also believed to be the preparatory excursion for the Mt. Everest climb. The trekking trail for Mt. Satopanth crosses through the winding path, knife-sharp edges, and remote villages of Garhwal. One can expect to get awestruck with the views of Thalay Sagar, Shivling, and granite pillars of Bhagirathi III.
