Changabang Peak, Uttarakhand
Gem of the Garhwal Himalayas; Changabang peak is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Changabang is one among the group of peaks that forms the northeast wall of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. The peak has an altitude of 6,864 m above sea level, which is comparatively lesser than the other peaks in the immediate vicinity, including the neighboring peak of Kalanka residing to its east. Though not the tallest, its steep and rocky peak covered in milky white snow is considered one of the world’s most challenging climbs. When seen from a distance, Changabang peak seems like a bride waiting in her veil of hidden face, which is an outstanding site to behold.
