He was a poet cum scholar who also served as the Prime Minister of the great Mughal emperor - Shah Jahan. The history of this renowned historical site in Agra dates back to the 17th century and the place is often entitled, history, China Tomb. Chini Ka Rauza Mausoleum is said to be the first of its kind which was built using glazed tiles. It is one of the must-see places in Agra for people of all ages, especially history lovers.

History of Chini Ka Rauza Mausoleum

Chini ka Rauza was built in 1635 during the period of Shah Jahan. It is a funerary monument built in the memory of the great poet and scholar Allama Afzal Khan. It is also among the first monuments to be decorated with glazed tile work. From this, it derived its name, as porcelain is also known as Chini Mitti (Chinese clay) in many parts of India. It is said that Allama Afzal Khan built the tomb during his lifetime.

Chini Ka Rauza Mausoleum was built in the year 1635. The architecture of this much-famous tourist site in Agra is in Indo-Persian style. Parts of this mausoleum are still adorned with glazed tiles, which were also known by the other names like Kashi and Chini during the Mughal era. Besides, the interior, which includes paintings of flowers, is also a key highlight of this monument.
