Surendrapuri Temple
Surendrapuri is one of the few temples in India to have its mythological theme park. The place brims with culture, art, and amazing sculptures. Apart from the park being a significant tourist attraction, visitors can also pay a visit to the Nagakoti, a Shiva Linga standing tall at 101 feet, and the temples of Lord Hanuman and Lord Venkateswara. All deities in the temple are strategically placed, keeping in mind the Vedic knowledge used in building this one-of-a-kind temple.
History of Surendrapuri Temple
Surendrapuri temple is created and constructed single-handedly by Sri Kunda Satyanarayana. He was born into a farmer’s family in a small village near Khammam. As he was from a farmer’s family, he cannot pursue his higher education.
The idea behind the temple was the sudden death of his youngest son Surendra Babu. His deep and long-lasting love for Indian culture and tradition seemed apt to create the mythological park.
When he started to construct the temple, he faced many challenges, his old age, discouraging friends and society, and huge costs.
He kept aside all the obstacles and started working toward the project at the age of 70 years. It took over 10 years to complete Surendrapuri to a concrete shape. The temple stands for its powerful evidence of one man’s vision and determination.
