History
The Church of St. Clara is also known as the St. Clara of Assisi Chapel. It was built by the Franciscan Friars in 1781 but was burnt down several times by the Marathas. However, it was rebuilt every time it was destroyed. The Chapel was affiliated with the parish of Tivim. It became a fully-fledged Church on 18th October 1805. At that time the Church had a parochial school and a music school too.
Architecture
The church of St Clara has five altars, one of which is dedicated to Santa Clara. In the year 2001, following the appointment of Fr Savio as parish priest, the church received a shot in the arm as he acquired the surrounding plot and constructed a hall for the parish and village activities.
The St Clara's church along with the parish house, cemetery, and chapel are also known to have undergone major renovation works undertaken by Fr Querobino. Today the church is well known for its Friday inner-healing sessions that attract huge crowds. Youth retreats held here also receive wide support.
