The Shakti Mandir is one of the points of pride of Dhanbad and gathers several devotees to the city all year round. The temple is located in the very heart of the city on the Thorapathak Road and is devoted to the Goddess Durga. The reason for the temple standing out amongst the several temples situated here, being a nationally known temple is the fact that Shakti Mandir owns the Akhand Jyoti, or the eternal flame which is brought down from Vaishno Devi.

Shakti Maa Mandir is a famous temple of Goddess Durga (Shakti) located in the city center at Joraphatak road, Dhanbad. The temple obtains its name from Goddess Durga who is also called Shakti Maa meaning Goddess of Power. It is approximately 1. 5 km from Dhanbad railway station.

The temple has a very pleasing architecture and is made of pure white marble. The temple has an Akhand Jyot which has been brought from Jwala Devi Shakti Peeth in Himachal Pradesh. The throne of the Goddess Durga is completely made out of gold which gives a special look to the sculpture. Red Chunar is offered to goddess Durga.
