Kolavipalam Beach
Kolavi Palam Beach at Payyoli adds to Kozhikode’s repertoire of hosting pristine and well-maintained beaches. Considered a swimmer’s paradise, take one step in and you are greeted by stretches of golden sands, with shallow waters that border Velliyamkallu.
It is also important to note that it is here, during November - December annually, that endangered Olive Ridley turtles come in to lay eggs. There is a nature conservation center here, ‘Theeram’, started by the fishermen to save these turtles.
Activities at Kolavipalam Beach
This beach is known to be “home” and serves as a breeding ground for the Olive Ridley Turtles. In addition, located at this beach is a conservation center called “Theeram” which has been formed by local fishermen to save this turtle species.
So apart from viewing the Olive Ridley Turtle species, there are no other things/activities to do found at this beach since it is located in a secluded spot, and has not been developed.
