Nahar Singh Mahal

Nahar Singh Mahal is located at Ballabhgarh in the Faridabad district of Haryana. This fort was built by the forefathers of Jat Raja Nahar Singh around 1739 AD, after whom Ballabgarh was named, the construction however continued in parts till about 1850. The fort is also known as Raja Nahar Singh Palace.

This palace is now a heritage property managed by Haryana Tourism. It has been renovated and converted into a motel-cum-restaurant. The palace has been renewed into an outstanding specimen of architectural design with the help of a team of experts.

Kartik Cultural Festival, the main annual fair held in November since 1996, is celebrated at Nahar Singh Mahal. If it is held by Haryana Tourism, during the bright and auspicious autumn month of Kartik as per the Vikram Samvat calendar.

The Raja Nahar Singh Palace, also known as the Ballabgarh Fort Palace, stands as a testament to the rich history and cultural heritage of Faridabad, Haryana, India. The palace dates back to the 18th century and was built by Raja Nahar Singh, the ruler of Ballabgarh. History of Nahar Singh Mahal

Raja Nahar Singh played a pivotal role in the Indian Rebellion of 1857 against the British, and his palace has since become a symbol of resistance. Although the palace had undergone various phases of decline, its tourism history began to flourish after the Government of Haryana recognized the importance of preserving this monumental structure as a cultural and historic site.

Architecture of Nahar Singh Mahal

The Ballabgarh Fort Palace is known for its unique architecture. The palace is similar to the palaces of Deeg and Bharatpur, which is decorated with intricate minars on its four corners of which only two can be seen now. The palace holds a Darbar-e-aam (Hall of Public audience) and a Rang Mahal decorated with beautiful Chhatris.

Now the palace has been taken over by Haryana Tourism and converted into a heritage hotel in 2003.
