Farrukh Nagar Fort

Built in the 18th Century, the Farrukhnagar Fort in Gurgaon is one of the popular tourist attractions here. It was built by Nawab Faujdar Khan in the year 1732. According to history, Farrukh Nagar was ruled by Baloch rulers - Faujdar Khan and later by Dalel Khan. Later, it was conquered by the Mughal Emperor.

While the Farukhnagar Fort in Gurgaon is ruined and lacks maintenance, it still reflects the magnificence of the Mughal architecture. It was one of the entrance gates which led people to Farrukh Nagar. The Fort originally had five gateways which are now reduced to just three. Out of the remaining three, Dilli Darwaza is a big fascination for people to date. Dilli Darwaja was renovated in 2009 along with two other gateways, including the Jhajjari Darwaza and Patli.

It feels very surprising to know that a fort that is almost ruined, once housed over 4000 people. Sunrise and sunset are the best time to visit the place.

Built-in the year 1732 by the Mughal emperor Faujdar Khan, the Farrukhnagar fort is the quintessential Mughal structure, adorned by various designs dating back to the said era. Featuring an octagonal shape, the fort is also home to one of the most distinguished bastions in the country.

The fort was in ruins up until 2009 when some reconstruction was done to it by INTACH. Dubbed the Dilli Darwaza, the fort is believed to have been home to over 4,000 people! One of the most popular tourist places in Gurgaon, a visit to the Farrukhnagar Fort is almost obligatory for patrons of architecture and design.
