Chitrakote Waterfall

The waterfall in Chitrakoot is found near Jagdalpur in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state in India. It is on the river called Indr?vati. The waterfalls are from a height of about 30 meters. The localities call it Chitracote Ghumar. Ghumar means waterfall and Chitra means cheetah or deer.

There are several deers in this forest as such it is popularly known as Chitar Kot and Chitrakoot etc. The width of this waterfall depends on the flow of water in the river which in turn depends on its source and rainfall. During summer the water level in the river will be radically down. But in monsoon, the water will touch both ends of the river beds. It would be full of mud during floods, which will not be there in summer.

During summer it gives an entirely different look all together as it looks much narrower and taller. Virtually it is a forest area. The surrounding area gives a spectacular attractiveness which is of immense pleasure to the viewers.
