Harike Wetland
The Harike National Park, covering an area of 4,100 hectares, was created during the construction of the Harike barrage across the Sutlej River. During winter, several thousands of migratory birds arrive from the Himalayas, Europe, and Siberia, giving it the best time of the year to visit this place. Some of the regular visitors sighted in the national park include the large cormorant, purple moorhen, tufted duck, white-winged tern, bar-headed goose, and the white-eyed pochard. The Harike National Park is also home to various species of snakes, lizards, dolphins, and fish.
Harike National Park in Punjab consists of a variety of species of flora and fauna. In the Harike national park, the Wetlands or marshes in these areas were the points of amusement having terrestrial and aquatic plants and animal species. This exotic place topped our wish list for some of our favorite reasons. More than 382 bird species out of which 39 species are migrants are also found here like the crow, parrot, pigeon, duck, bird, warbler, fantail, gull, stonechat, and woodpecker. Around 8 turtle species and 25 species of fish are also found here.
