- If the full moon has crossed the age during the full moon, then there should not be any restrictions. In such a way, if the full moon is in the first three months of the next day, then the entire festival of the festival should be done in the ninth period of the next day.
- But if the full moon is not present in the first 3 days of the next day, then Raksha Bandhan can be celebrated in the second half of the second phase of the next day later on.
- Although in some areas like Punjab etc., the dawn and dusk are not considered more important, it is generally the tradition of celebrating the festival of Rakhi before the afternoon period. But according to the Vedas, celebrating Raksha Bandhan on Bhadra month is totally prohibited, in any situation.
Story of Raksha Bandhan Festival
According to Mahabharata once the hand of Lord Krishna got hurt. After which Mother Draupadi tore the piece of her cloth and tied it on the hand of Lord Krishna. After which Lord Krishna gives the pleasure of providing security to Draupadi for a lifetime from them only this auspicious Raksha Bandhan also started celebrating.
According to one more historic story, the queen of Chittor, Karnavati sends a rakhi to Humayun and asks for the pledge of her security. Keeping the words of Karnavati Humayun provide security to Karnavati after which the ritual of celebrating Raksha Bandhan was started.
Raksha Bandhan 2023, Date and Muhurat Timing
This year the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month is starting at 10.58 am on August 30 and it is ending on August 31 at 07.05 am. On this basis, in the year 2023, Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on Wednesday, 30th August, because the full moon date is going to disappear in the morning of 31st August itself.
Raksha Bandhan Pooja Vidhi
On the day of Raksha Bandhan, a sister ties Rakhi on the wrist of their brothers. At the same time, they also ask for the blessings, prosperity, and happiness of the brothers. A Mantra is read while tying Rakhi on the wrist, by reading that mantra, even the Pandit can also tie rakhi to Yahan for their protection, that mantra is:
“Yen Bandho Bali Raja Danavendro Mahabal”
There is also a famous mythological story behind this mantra, which is often read at the time of worship of Raksha Bandhan. Once Dharmaraj Yudhishthira expressed the desire to hear such a story from Lord Shri Krishna, which can lead to liberation from all the sufferings and difficulties. In reply to this, Shri Krishna told them this story:
There was a war for 12 consecutive years between tales and incidents in the mythical era. It was known that the victory of the Asuras in the war is certain. The King of Demons occupied the three worlds and declared himself the King of the Trilok. Devas of the demons Devraj Indra Guru then reached Brihaspati's shelter and prayed for protection. Then the Raksha Puja was completed in the morning.
In this legislation, Guru Brihaspati read the mantra mentioned above; In addition, Indra and his wife Indrani also repeated this mantra behind. Indra's wife Indrani gave all the Brahmins the power of protection in the defence and tied her to the wrist of the right-hand Indra. Indra defeated the Ashur with the powers derived from this Puja and regained his lost regime.
How to tie Rakhi?
- First tie rakhi to God.
- Then, tie Rakhi to your brother after taking the blessings of God.
- Make the brother sit facing the east direction.
- While tying the rakhi, keep a piece of cloth on the brother's head.
- Apply tika on the brother's forehead and apply some Akshat on it.
- Perform the brother's aarti by lighting a lamp.
