Trekking at Cheiraoching

Cheiraoching is a hillock in the Thangmeiband area of Imphal. Adorned with green trees and various other floras, this hillock is a popular place for trekking. The best part about this trekking place is that it is located in Imphal city. If you are staying in one of the hotels in Imphal and if you don't mind walking a few kilometers, then this hillock is your perfect trekking spot.

The trekking trail to Cheiroaching is rather an easy one and a cakewalk for those who have experience in adventurous activities. But a trek to this hillock is more about the view that you will enjoy from the top rather than about the trekking itself. Yes, climb up to the top and see the enchanting view of the mesmerizing landscape from there. Look around and see the newly constructed Manipur Assembly building, an imposing structure in the heart of the city.

Dzuko Valley Trek

Dzukou Valley -sometimes spelled Dzükou Valley or Dzüko Valley- sits high amongst the clouds, at 2,452 meters above sea level, straddling the border of Nagaland and Manipur in northeast India.

The topography indicates that the valley in the bottom of a large crater or caldera of a long-extinct volcano, and one can look down upon it from the rim of the caldera. At ~2,400 meters, there is a special kind of beauty, almost desolate, especially in the long shadows of early morning or late afternoon.

Above the valley remains a huge mountain hut – almost like a shed! Behind the hut, there is a small cluster of oak and rhododendron forest. Beyond this, there are some steep hills – which tempt one to climb for a better view. Halfway up any signs of tracks disappear and one is just left with fighting endless bamboo thickets.

No doubt that this valley presents a very good opportunity for young people, traveling independently, to gain some trekking experience.
