Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Movie Review
What happens when a jodi breaker stumbles upon his own girlfriend who wants a break up with him? Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar tells the story of Tini and Rahul, who fall in love and later Tini finds out that she could not be with him. The story deals with family values, and coming-of-age romance and is a roller coaster ride, but the ride seems too long.
Fans had been craving for Ranbir to return in a full-fledged romantic role and when his on-screen pairing with Shraddha was announced, all of us including me were excited to see their chemistry.
Luv Ranjan has developed his own style of filmmaking and his films really have their own set of audiences, but with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, he seems 5 years too late.
The story of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar starts with a couple having a breakup and Rohan Arora aka Mickey aka Ranbir Kapoor and Mannu played by Bassi are the masterminds behind it.
Ranbir comes from a wealthy Delhi family who has multiple businesses and he has a brother from another mother Mannu, again a typical trope in a Luv Ranjan film.
Well, the story continues and Ranbir and Tini, played by Shraddha Kapoor meet and fall in love after just one song.
Everything is going fine till Tini realizes that she cannot put up with Rahul's family and she decides to break up with him.
But for breaking up, she calls none other than Ranbir and the real tussle starts from there.
Luv Ranjan's Bits & Pieces Romance Story
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar starts off with a boost but moves like a golf game, the story takes too much time to establish and when you are about to break the threshold, intermission happens.
TJMM moves really slow in the first half, and promises an enticing plot in the second half, but Luv Ranjan really plays on bits and pieces as the film appears to be a very long roller-coaster ride, where you have your moments of excitement, but you have to wait too long for it.
I get the cinematic liberties that makers take, but there are giant loopholes in the script.
For example, it's really hard to understand why Ranbir is doing this side job of Jodi-Breaker when he has an already established business.
Did Ranbir and Shraddha not recognize each other while they were calling and consulting each other on the phone?
And towards the end, the film also tries to preach about family bonds and relations but Luv Ranjan hasn't really established ‘that’ bond between Ranbir and Dimple Kapadia, who plays his mother and you just feel nonchalant about their emotions in the climax.

Actor's Performances: Shraddha's Hottest Avatar Till Date
Talking about acting performances, honestly, Ranbir could have chosen a better script if he had to do a romantic role, but his chemistry with Shraddha looks good on screen.
Ranbir has not done anything extraordinary as his character looks like a repetition from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahaani.
Shraddha has appeared in her hottest avatar to date and the role perfectly suits her. The expressions and the nuances are perfectly portrayed by her.
Dimple Kapadia has played the role of Ranbir’s mother and we all know her caliber as an actress. She is the same actor who had given me goosebumps in Pathaan. She really does an amazing job of portraying her character.
To my surprise, Boney Kapoor is also in this movie and his appearance will surely make you laugh. The guy is just enjoying himself and I was really relating hard with Ranbir when Boney shouted at him in some of the most hilarious scenes.
Now, addressing the elephant in the room, it is the debut Bollywood film of Anubhav Singh Bassi and though the standup comedian makes us laugh with his dialogue, his dialogue delivery seems very bland and it looks as if he is rushing through his lines.
Bassi really had a huge ground to play, but his performance falls flat and it seems like Luv just integrated him into the film due to his fan following that could be converted into TJMM's audience.
